In April of 2012 Search One was deployed for the 2nd in trying to locate the body of missing child. At the writing of this article the suspect in this case has not gone to trial so the name of the victim and certain details will not be discussed. Suffice it to say the circumstances around the disappearance of this young boy were disturbing at best and the stated goal by investigators at our early morning briefing this day was to find something, anything that would allow them to bring closure to this family, anything that would allow them to bring closure to this family.

While this was our second time to this location it was actually our fourth search related to this case. Search number one was in the same area almost a month earlier. The effort was extensive and our dogs showed significant interest in a specific area of a creek but we were unable to pinpoint the source. Searches number two and number three were at residential locations in the Dallas area helping to confirm and/or eliminate other aspects of the case. This return to the initial site was accompanied by the local water department which helped us pump much of the water out of the creek where the dogs had first shown interest. This time we scoured the entire area surrounding the creek while the water was being removed and then worked that target with Human remains dogs yet again. This time one of the K9 teams was able to pinpoint the source (which had been submerged under water) in the same general area as before and the remains were recovered.

This recovery brought an end to the nightmare of not knowing both for the family and for investigators. It also allowed a final bow to be tied around all of the additional evidence involved in the case to that point.
