In April of this year Search One was able to field our new mobile command center. It is a 23’ Wells Cargo custom built unit equipped with an on board generator, shore power and battery backup system. This was a much needed replacement for the aging 16’ unit we had been using for the last fifteen years. It provides a significantly larger command area workspace, additional storage for equipment, a pneumatic mast system for our main antenna and lots of other equipment that helps us function more efficiently in the field. We are currently averaging about seven calls for service per month and the new command center has served us very well since being commissioned. One of our earliest deployments with the new unit resulted in the live find of a disoriented female victim who had wandered away from her abandoned vehicle the night before.

Command Area - Search One Rescue Team - K9 Search and Rescue - Dallas Fort Worth Search and RescueThe new unit is considerable heavier than the previous command center and so we are struggling a little with adequate tow vehicles on the team. Our goal for the coming year is to try and obtain a one tone duly pick up (preferably white) that is in good condition and make it the permanent tow vehicle. If you know of someone looking to donate such a vehicle or that would be willing to sell it for a significantly reduced price we would appreciate the lead.
